Professional experience
Ryan was born and raised in south Orange County and has been drawn to dogs for as long as he can remember, always wanting both to teach them and to learn from them. At nine years old he set up his first small business walking every dog in the neighbourhood, which is an early sign of the entrepreneurial streak and work ethic he still brings. His path into professional training came through an unlikely turn. Ryan brought home a new puppy just one week after breaking his back and neck in a dirt bike crash. The injury meant a desk job was no longer possible, and he knew he needed work that kept him on his feet and active alongside his new dog. He began reaching out to local trainers and cleaned kennels in exchange for hands on opportunities and education, which is a genuinely unglamorous way to enter a profession and says a great deal about how much he wanted it. That determination underpins his work today.
A little bit about me
Since becoming a full time trainer, Ryan has worked across basic obedience, personal protection dogs and behavioural cases, giving him range across very different kinds of client need. His goal with every dog he takes on is consistent and refreshingly plainly stated, which is a happy, easygoing dog and an owner who has built a healthy relationship with it. Those two things are connected in his view, because a dog that is confident and settled is usually a dog whose owner has learned to communicate with it properly. Ryan's own route into the profession involved starting at the bottom and earning his education through hard physical work, and that background shows in how he approaches a difficult case. He does not look for shortcuts, and he does not give up on a dog early.
