Njoud

Professional experience

Njoud began her training career after adopting her first dog, Ace, in 2011, and what started as a personal interest developed rapidly into a serious study of canine behaviour and of the communication between dogs and their owners. Her early volunteering with rescue organisations and shelters shaped an approach that remains central to her work. She has since worked with dogs of every breed, age and background, offering training across puppy development, adolescent work, advanced obedience, agility, behaviour modification, anxiety related behaviours and rehabilitation of fearful dogs. Njoud also prepares dogs for American Kennel Club testing, and as an AKC evaluator she conducts official testing and certification for dogs already trained and ready for assessment. In line with AKC rules she does not evaluate dogs she has personally trained, and instead offers preparation programs for owners pursuing AKC titles. She holds the Animal Behavior College Dog Trainer certification alongside further qualifications in shelter dog training, canine nutrition, pet massage, and pet CPR and first aid.

A little bit about me

Njoud's approach is grounded in canine psychology and positive reinforcement, and rests on a specific belief, which is that behaviour is a form of communication. Rather than treating surface symptoms she works to identify what is actually driving a dog's behaviour and to address that. Her experience spans the full arc of a dog's life, from raising puppies through to supporting senior dogs, but the work closest to her is with shelter dogs and particularly those struggling with fear. Her skill lies in drawing out the dog's real personality, building its confidence and enabling it to live a fuller life. She also enjoys advanced work with working breeds. Looking forward, Njoud intends to keep adding certifications and attending seminars, and her long term ambition is to establish a dog sanctuary on substantial acreage, incorporating a rescue organisation alongside it.
