Professional experience

Jarret came to dog training through a childhood fascination with animals, sparked specifically by watching his grandfather train duck dogs. That early exposure to skilled, patient handling shaped what he thought good training looked like, and it eventually pulled him into the profession. He brings three years of professional experience and has trained dogs of all breeds, working from basic obedience through to the toughest cases that other trainers had declined to take on. That willingness to accept difficult dogs is worth noting from a trainer relatively early in his career, and it reflects both confidence and a genuine appetite for the hard end of the work. His route into the profession was unconventional and demanding. He left a stable job for an apprenticeship at Hercules Dog Training Academy, where he lived in a converted school bus and immersed himself completely in learning the craft. Few people commit to a career change on those terms.

A little bit about me

Jarret has developed skills across a notably wide range, from protection work through to schutzhund tracking, and he has recently expanded into training hunting dogs for tasks including bird retrieval and tracking wounded deer. That expansion says something consistent about him, which is that he keeps seeking out new disciplines rather than consolidating around what he already knows. He describes himself as thriving on challenges, and the part of the work he finds most rewarding is helping owners build stronger and more understanding relationships with their dogs. He is always eager to learn and takes on new challenges with every dog he meets. For owners with a dog that has been declined elsewhere, or with goals that go beyond standard obedience, Jarret's combination of appetite and range makes him a genuinely useful person to talk to.
