Professional experience
Michael defines his role in unusually practical terms. His job is to provide effective, professional and humane training that makes the owner's life genuinely easier, and he does that by teaching people how to train their dog to live within the rules and structure of ordinary family life. That framing is worth paying attention to, because it puts the emphasis exactly where most families need it. The goal is not a dog that performs impressively in a training session, it is a dog that behaves well at home, on the street and around visitors, day after day, in the hands of the people who actually live with it. Michael has been a certified trainer and a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals since 2016, and his work covers foundation obedience through adolescent development and on into advanced training. Owners in Brooklyn face specific challenges around space, density and constant distraction, and Michael trains dogs to succeed in exactly that environment rather than an idealised one.
A little bit about me
Dogs have been an important part of Michael's life for as long as he can remember, and he learned young, working with his own dogs. The motto he adopted then and still holds to is short and tells you most of what you need to know about his approach, which is "Don't Blame Them, Train Them". It reflects a refusal to write a dog off as difficult or stubborn, and an insistence that unwanted behaviour is a training problem rather than a character flaw. As a certified trainer and IACP member since 2016, Michael looks forward to helping owners and dogs live together in genuine harmony and build a good life together. For families who have started to feel frustrated with their dog, that shift in perspective is often the most valuable thing he brings.
