Professional experience

Amanda holds a bachelor's degree in animal science with a concentration in animal psychology from the State University of New York at Cobleskill, completed in 2012, which places genuine academic grounding behind her practical work. Training dogs is both her profession and her hobby, and that distinction is worth noting, because it means the learning does not stop when the working day ends. She spent several years training for a rescue organisation before moving into private training, and rescue work is where a trainer's diagnostic ability gets tested hardest. Dogs arrive without reliable histories, with behaviours whose causes have to be worked out rather than explained, and with limited time to reach a good outcome. That experience underpins the confidence she brings to complicated cases now. Her focus is on helping owners create healthy, balanced relationships with their dogs, and on giving people the tools to live well alongside their animals rather than simply managing around them.

A little bit about me

Outside her training career Amanda competes in dog sports with her Belgian Malinois, Mazikeen and Ravage, and her bandog Nash, which is a demanding line up by any measure. Together they compete in Protection Sports Association work, dock diving, Fast CAT and frisbee sports, and when they are not competing they are usually out on a hike or a run. Owners should understand what that means in practice. Training high drive working breeds to competition standard across multiple disciplines requires a level of skill, consistency and physical commitment that most pet dogs will never demand of a trainer. Amanda brings that capability to every dog she works with. Her enthusiasm for empowering owners to live their best lives with their dogs comes through clearly, and families tend to find her energy genuinely motivating.
