Professional experience

Diamond and Darryl bring more than twenty years of combined experience and have built their working lives around helping dogs and their families thrive together. Based in Maryland, their work has taken them up and down the East Coast with dogs of every breed, temperament and background, which has given them exposure to a genuinely wide range of situations and the judgement that comes with it. Since committing to training full time in 2018, they have specialised in introductory, intermediate and advanced obedience alongside rescue and rehabilitation cases, which means they are equally comfortable with a puppy learning its first house rules and a rescue dog carrying a difficult history. Working as a pair offers families something a single trainer cannot, which is two sets of eyes on the dog, two perspectives on a problem, and the ability to demonstrate how a dog should respond consistently to more than one handler. That last point matters considerably in households with several adults.

A little bit about me

Their approach reaches well past commands. Diamond and Darryl focus on building trust, respect and genuine understanding between dogs and their handlers, and they operate under a motto that captures their philosophy neatly, which is "It's Not Discipline, It's a Lifestyle". The distinction is deliberate. Discipline suggests something imposed on a dog from outside, whereas a lifestyle is something a family lives consistently, and it is the second that produces change lasting beyond the end of a program. Their mission is to give owners the tools and knowledge to communicate clearly with their dogs and to build relationships that genuinely mean something. The goal they describe is simple to state and harder to achieve, which is harmony, confidence and bonds that last a lifetime, and more than twenty years of combined experience stands behind it.
