Professional experience

Nicole has dedicated her working life to helping dogs and owners live in harmony, and her route into training was thorough rather than quick. She grew up in Summerville, South Carolina and moved to Indianapolis in 2010, where she has been based ever since. Her career with dogs began straight after high school as a kennel technician, and she went on to work as a doggy daycare attendant, a receptionist and an assistant kennel manager. That progression matters, because it means she understands the operational reality of caring for dogs in volume, including the routines, the risks and the small details that determine whether a dog is genuinely well looked after. She then pursued formal certification as a dog obedience trainer through Penn Foster. What pushed her toward training specifically was volunteering at Indy Humane and seeing how many dogs end up in shelters. Her goal is to prevent as many of those outcomes as possible by strengthening the bond between dogs and their families.

A little bit about me

Nicole shares her home with two dogs, Smalls Ferdinand, a Saint Bernard, and Morbius, an American Staffordshire Terrier rescued from the Indianapolis Humane Society. Alongside training she provides a genuinely structured environment for the dogs in her care, and she is unusually rigorous about it. She tracks each dog's routine in detail, including feeding, medication and exercise, using management tools to ensure nothing is missed. For owners handing over a dog with medication requirements or a particular routine, that level of documented care is worth knowing about, and it is not something every trainer offers. Her motivation traces directly back to the shelter work that started her career. Every dog whose behaviour improves is a dog less likely to be surrendered, and that is the outcome Nicole is ultimately working toward with every family she takes on.
