Professional experience
Ashlyn's interest in animal behaviour started at sixteen, when she began working with horses and found herself fascinated by how animals think, process and learn. That early curiosity turned into something far more focused years later, and for a difficult reason. Her own German shepherd developed severe reactivity and dog aggression, and Ashlyn found herself living with the exact problem that so many of her clients now describe. She threw herself into understanding what genuine behaviour change actually requires, not the surface level fixes that mask a problem for a fortnight, but the real work that changes how a dog feels about the thing it is reacting to. She was determined to give her first dog a better life, and that determination is what built her skill set. Owners working with Ashlyn are working with someone who has stood where they are standing, who knows how isolating a reactive dog can feel, and who learned this discipline under real pressure rather than in theory. That perspective shapes every program she runs.
A little bit about me
What began as a personal mission quickly became a career. Ashlyn now works with dogs from all backgrounds who face the same kinds of challenges her own dog faced, helping them become the animal that genuinely fits the family they live with. She understands the difference between a dog that is managed and a dog that is actually better, and she works toward the second. With her own dogs, Ashlyn explores just how far human and canine teamwork can go, competing in dog sports and bringing them into the activities she loves most, including hiking, paddle boarding and camping. That side of her life is not incidental to her training. It is where she sees what a well built relationship makes possible, and it informs the standard she sets for the dogs in her care.
